Our client had a long, worn out single-car driveway, which didn’t provide much parking space for guests and forced the homeowner to back all the way out of the garage and onto a busy street.

We came up with a plan to replace their current driveway and add on a new half-circle driveway, providing more parking and making it easier and safer for them to get out of the garage and onto the street.

Project Plan

Here’s the outline of the project scope:

  1. Break and remove existing concrete from street to garage door.
  2. Excavate front yard for addition of 4” thick half-circle driveway. Excavate approaches for 6” of concrete on 6” of aggregate base.
  3. Driveways shall be 12ft wide except where circle driveway opens up to side drive.
  4. Set forms, grade, and mechanically compact subgrade.
  5. Place #3 reinforcing steel at 20” spacing throughout.
  6. Pour driveway using 3500psi concrete with a medium broom finish.
  7. Return to saw-cut crack control joints, remove forms, and backfill.
